Black Family Wellness Expo Highlights
The Jacksonville Chapter of The Links, Incorporated hosted a impactful community health event in partnership with Association of Retired Persons of Porterville (ARPP), Agape Family Health, and the Blue Zone. The all day event offered attendees a wealth of valuable health resources, including informative workshops on nutrition, wellness, and financial literacy. Experts in each field led the workshops providing practical tips and advice to empower community members to take charge of their health. In addition to educational sessions, the event also featured health screenings where attendees had an opportunity to speak one-on-one with medical providers. The event also had fun activities for local youth to get them excited about exercising and taking care of their bodies. By collaborating with respected health organizations to host this multifaceted event, The Links demonstrated their deep commitment to the wellbeing of the Black community.
Boyz 2 Men Education Workshop
Young men of Jacksonville community were inspired and uplifted at the recent Boyz 2 Men event hosted at HollyBrook Homes Apartments on February 27th. The breakout sessions offered practical wisdom – from goal setting to self-care – delivered by positive role models in the community. Attendants were given the opportunity to speak with prominent males in the surrounding community. The young men gained insight into building healthy relationships and living a purposeful life. The CAN testing unit provided a vital service as well for STD/STI awareness and prevention. By all accounts, the event achieved its aims: celebrating local youth, offering them knowledge and resources for growth, and introducing mentors to guide them. The community clearly came together to support the next generation of leaders.
